The official detention center site has a current list, not a confirmed archive of releases from the prior three days. It cannot be filtered into a valid 72-hour release list. The list answers whether a person is displayed in current county custody at the time of the check. It does not show when a removed name disappeared or what event caused that change.
A three-day inquiry is still useful. It gives enough room to reconcile a Friday court event, weekend jail processing, a state report posted by date, and a later custody alert. Yet the window must be built person by person. The jail's written release/removal transaction is the strongest local record because it identifies the event time, date, purpose, legal authority, and receiving custody.
Check Shelby County 72-Hour Releases
Set a clear start and end time before checking records. Keep a short log of each source, its displayed status, and the time it was viewed. This avoids mixing a current status with an event from an earlier day.

Shelby Weekend Release Checks
A 72-hour period often crosses days when office access differs, but the research found no published Shelby release schedule, exit location, or weekend routine. Do not guess that a court event led to an immediate jail departure. Bond processing, another case, a warrant, a detainer, identity checks, or an administrative delay can keep a person in custody after a docket entry appears.

The KDOC Daily Releases hub is especially useful across a multi-day window. Its dated PDFs show DOC number, name, type of release, released-from facility, and highest felony class. A prior report identifies Shelby County Detention Center as the releasing institution for a state-controlled discharge. Review each report date in the period and then match the person to KOOL.
Preserve the exact “Type of Release” text. “Discharged - Minimum Expiration” does not mean the same thing as “Mandatory Reentry Supervision - In State.” A physical departure can begin a period of community supervision, while a transfer keeps the person in custody elsewhere. KOOL may show a status banner, location, supervision dates, or the Shelbyville office. Its data newer than 120 days may not be finalized, so cite the access date and verify conflicts with KDOC.
KDOC omits many county bond and court releases. The Shelby jail path stays primary unless the record shows state-sentence control.
